A Very Durham Christmas…

December in Durham is always very festive with the Christmas markets, carol services and celebrations all the way until term ends. For me this year has been even more festive than most as being MCR (Middle Common Room) Social Sec at Trevelyan College I have been running some of our celebrations.

Thanksgiving – the Durham way

To us Brit’s the concept of Thanksgiving is a somewhat foreign concept, something that we are vaguely aware of through the occasional pop culture reference or our favourite American films and TV shows.  However, for most American’s the Thanksgiving holiday is the highlight of the year, a time for giving thanks and celebration not to mention feast on some amazing food.

Durham demolish Loughborough in BUCS Varsity

Team Durham came out on top of Wednesday’s BUCS clash with Loughborough where everyone truly was bleeding palatinate. Tension was high, but Durham pushed the nerves aside and came out victorious with 12 wins out of a possible 15, proving that they deserve to be Britain’s Number 1 Team Sport University.
